My Nissan Leaf has rapidly become my all-time favourite car! It handles superbly, is crammed with tech (which I love), and, best of all, I haven't spent a cent on petrol all week. With the government actively encouraging EV ownership, a public charger network that is expanding exponentially, not to mention fuel prices on the rise, now is a perfect time to make the jump to the EV hyperspace. So say “buh-BYE” to the bowser and hello to the electron!

We weren't sure about going for the 30KW older model, or 40kW new. I'm so glad we went for the 40kW! It looks so much better, longer range, is more powerful, and has all the safety features it is hard to find on the 30kW models.

I love it! Had a learning curve when traveling long distance but once you learn you need to plan the journey and the stops it was great! Super surprised at how well it performs around town.

It's a great wee car, we went for the 30kw and think that makes a bit more sense than the 24kw, but understand it does relate to each persons intended use.

Our leaf is our first EV. It’s a zippy car, with many features that we didn’t expect such as, heated chairs and steering. We took it to Rangiora from Chch city for a BBQ on our first weekend and it was great. We got the 30Kw, we intend to use this car for going to work and driving around the city in the weekend. We are high km travellers, we would need to charge approx 3 times per week. We are with Electric Kiwi, the charges barely made a dent on the app - approx $6-$8 - how good. I would recommend 30kw at minimum for a runaround car.

Running the numbers on exactly how much I would save converting to electric definitely helped sway my decision

Love my Nissan Leaf. Zippy around town, easy to charge. Even went on a trip to Akaroa in it. Awesome! Got there no problems and charged up overnight ready to go again in the morning.

James Herriott
Operations Manager

James joins the team at Chevron in 2022 as our yard hand. He graduated University in 2017 with a bachelor of science in geology.

Despite this James' heart has all ways been in cars. He recalls a time in his childhood when his father would take him around the city to different car yards to see all the cars, he had picked out of the newspaper classifieds the day before. Beginning a lifelong obsession with anything on four wheels.

When James' thoughts aren't about cars you will often find him thinking about them in a much smaller scale. He is often adding to his ever-growing Hot Wheels collection much to his partners disappear. A collection he one day dreams about turning into full scale.

James enjoys much of his time off out attempting to regain control of his garden with the help of his cats Percy and George.
